Blog Awards - Scroll Down for Hot Boys!

In the past month I have been gifted two awards which I thought was just lovely but I keep forgetting to post about them so I thought today I would post about them both together.

First I was awarded the one lovely blog award by the lovely Sammy over at Happy Family, Healthy Family.  Sammy writes a great blog that is about how she lives a healthy and active life with her husband and two boys.  She shares some great recipes and is a great motivation to anyone who is trying to get fit and healthy as well.  So with this award I had to share seven things about me so here they are:

1 - I am a total stress head! I am always worrying about something and most of the time its random little things that I really shouldn't be thinking about.  I really need to get it under control or I am going to send myself mad!

2 - I dream of living in a the country on a big property and having chickens and cows and a big vege patch.

3 - I love red capsicum. I could eat it all day long if I was allowed to.

4 - I have a wide range of food allergies that I have known about since I was born.  I am allergic to that many things it would quicker to write a list of what I am not allergic too.  I don't break out in hives or anything I just go super crazy.  Seriously! I will be full of energy one day and practically bouncing off the walls then the next day I will have major mood swings and cry at nothing then for the next two days I will be super exhausted and sleep a lot.  I also get dermatitis, eczema and asthma so I am a ball of fun.

5 - I tore the cartilage in my knee a few years ago by squatting down to put something in a fridge.

6 - When Corey and I get married in November we will have been together for 8 years, 3 weeks & 6 days.

7 - I really really really want a bulldog puppy but our landlord won't let us have pets.

The second award I got was from Camelia & Crinolines and it comes with its own little quiz.  Make sure you jump over to Camelia & Crinoline's blog.  She writes all about her sewing and vintage adventures and this girls sewing skills

1) What size shoe do you wear? If you wear a size 7, can I borrow your shoes?
So here is my little secret......I have gigantic feet!  I am a size 10 which is a UK8 and a Euro 41.  Positively massive!  But I take solace in the fact that apparently the gorgeous miss Jackie Onassis also had size 10 feet.
2) 30's or 60's?
I am really more of a 50s girl but if I had to choose I would say 60s.
3) Have you ever kissed someone you shouldn't have?
Yes.
4) Have you ever been poisoned? Was it by the girlfriend of the person you kissed?? That is awesomely "Knot's Landing".
No. I did get prescribed medicine by the doctor once that made me break out in a rash all over my stomach but that is the closest I have come.
5) Who's on your "Celebrity Free Pass" list (top 5)?
hottest nrl player I have seen in a long time. Sandor Earl plays for Penrith Panthers.

I have a long time crush on Harry Kewell.  Hottest soccer player ever....besides Corey!

And who can go past Johnny Depp!

Firass Dirani...the only reason I watched the whole season of Underbelly: The Golden Mile.  He was also the Red Poweranger.

Daily Style

I thought it would be fun to bring back my daily style posts.  I am not sure how regular they will be.  Some weeks I may do a few and other weeks I may do none.  I really like doing outfit posts because they may me more aware of how I am dressing and make me put a little bit more effort in.  So here goes.....

Backwards Dirndl 3

Dress - Vintage
Cardigan - Temt
Belt - Poundland
Shoes - K-mart

I wore this today for a spot of grocery shopping.  Not a very exciting day really but had to be done as the cupboards are bare.  I did manage to squeeze in some subway and a mango bubble tea while we were out though so the day wasn't a total loss.

Backwards Dirndl

I bought this dress from an awesome vintage store in London called Beyond Retro.  It is the coolest vintage shop I have ever seen in my life! It is enormous and has everything you could ever think of.  All the racks are split up into items of clothing and then colour coded so it is really easy to find what you are looking for.  The dresses have a whole side of the shop dedicated to them.  I wish we had a shop like this in Australia!  I bought 3 dresses and a 50's swimsuit/jumpsuit from there.  And do you want to know a secret about this dress......

Backwards Dirndl 2

I'm wearing it backwards!!!  It is actually a vintage dirndl dress but I couldn't decide what top to wear under it so I just spun it around a wore it backwards.  I was inspired by this post that I read ages ago on The Clothes Horse's blog.  But I would love to wear it normally but need to work out how to wear it without making it look too costumey.  And I need the right shirt to wear under it.  I was going to wear white but thought it might be too stark in comparison to the dress so my next though is red.

How would you wear this dress?

Easter Long Weekend

How was everyone's easter? Mine was fabulous (thanks for asking!)  We had 2 barbecues with family and friends and a relaxing day Saturday doing not much at all.  Then on Monday we got up early for the dawn service and then I spent the rest of the day getting stuff done around the house before we went out to dinner with some friends of ours.  All in all it was a lovely weekend.  I am just bummed that there is only one day left before I have to go back to work.  But I have my wedding expo at work that I have been organising this weekend so that should be pretty exciting.  Anyway onto photos from the weekend....
Easter Cupcakes

Easter Cupcakes I made for our barbecue with Corey's family.  They are my usual sprinkle cupcake recipe with buttercream icing and cadbury mini eggs on top.

Easter Outfit - Front

What I wore to our barbecue with my family.  I was way over dressed but it was Easter and I felt like dressing up.

Easter Outfit - Back

And check out these stockings! I bought them from Primark when we were in London for 2 pound.  Bargain!

Caramel Cupcakes

And some more cupcakes that I made for our barbecue with my family.  These are my new recipe for April.  They are caramel lovers cupcakes from The Crabapple Cupcake book.  I highly recommend this book. It has the best recipes!

Unsettled

Ever since I came home from Europe I have been feeling a little unsettled.  I think I am basically just bored with life which I suppose is normal when you go gallivanting around Europe for a month then have to come home and go back to work.  After a holiday like that normal life can seem a bit boring.   I am beginning to get a bit bored with our house too but since we don't want to buy a house until after the wedding I have had to deal with my boredom in some other ways.  We have decided to redecorate our bedroom which we are in the process of doing so stay tuned for photos when we finally get that sorted.  I have also been feeling a bit blah about my appearance so in order to fix that I have been trying out new hairstyles and putting more effort into my outfits.  I have also been regularly painting my nails to make myself feel a little more put together.  Here is one outfit from the past week...

I bought this vintage shirtdress just before we went overseas from Thrush on etsy.  She has a great shop so if you are in the market for some vintage threads be sure to pop over and check it out.  I have also become addicted to youtube and the hair tutorial videos on there.  I have also seen a few pop up on the blogs I read lately.  Here are two I tried out recently....

A lot of the times I watch these videos and think those hairstyles are so easy why didn't I think of them.  Sometimes I think we just need a little reminder of new ways to do things rather than getting stuck in our routine of doing things the same way everyday.  I think I also need to get back into the sewing room to ease this feeling of unsettledness I have.  But my sewing room is a mess so hopefully over this 5 day long weekend I will get a chance to tidy it up and get in there and do some sewing.  I have 2 projects already cut out so all I need to do is sew them up.  And just to end on a positive note...

How freaking cute is Corey's brothers new puppy!!!!!

It's Swap Time

I have not seen any swaps happening around the blog world since I did the pincushion swap so I was very excited when I heard about Punky n Me's cushion swap.  I've signed up and so should you. It's a fun way to brighten someone's day by sending them a little happy mail and getting something in return.  Sign up closes on Monday 25th April!

Euro Trip - Part 7 - The Food

To say we ate our way around Europe would be an understatement.  We basically devoured anything we saw.  It was amazing!!! And the most exciting part is even with all the stuff I ate I only put on 2 kilos while we were away.  Yay me!!!  So here are some of the delicious things we ate.  These aren't all of them just the ones I remembered to get photos of....

There was more but like I said I forgot to take photos.  We had an amazing Irish breakfast in Dublin where I tried white and black pudding for the first time.  We also had an amazing breakfast of sausages and pretzels in Munich.  All in all we ate some mighty delicious food and I am still craving some things.  The hardest part though is having to come home and cook for myself again.  A month off cooking dinner  made me never want to cook dinner again!

Euro Trip - Part 6 - Paris

The last place we visited was Paris.  I really enjoyed Paris but mainly because Corey and I stayed in a nice hotel by ourselves and spent the three days on our own having a mini honeymoon of sorts.  It was very romantic!  We are not sure what we are going to do honeymoon wise so we thought we should use Paris just in case we don't end up going back overseas after the wedding.  So on our first day we had lunch at a little cafe near our hotel then did a walking tour to get ourselves acquainted with the city and see some of the sights.

Pretty Trees in Paris

Eiffel Tower by Day

Louvre

Henry IV

Wine on First Day

On day two we headed out of the city to Disneyland.  It was magical!!! I was like a kid on crack that day.  I actually ended up making myself sick cause I ran around eating everything I saw and going on every ride I saw.  I was in bed by 8pm! But it was a fun day so I am not complaining at all.

Disneyland!!!

Excaliburs Sword

Snow White Ride

Alice's Curious Labyrinth

White Rabbit

Mad Hatter

Indiana Jones' Car

Aladdin's Lamp

Hoping for a Geanie

Skull Rock

Teacup Ride

Mickey!!!

Giant Fairy Floss

On the last day we wandered around and saw the rest of the sights and then met up with the others to climb the Eiffel Tower.  We didn't actually climb it we took the lift but climb sounds way better.  And then for dinner we had a picnic under the Eiffel Tower and watched the light show.  Even though all Parisians hate the Eiffel Tower and its light show I thought it was beautiful.

And that was the end of our trip.  We headed back to London the next morning and had 1 last night in London with my sister and Kieran then we flew out super duper early for home.  It was a mighty hectic holiday but it sure was fun.  I am so glad we did it and I know it is going to be a memory we treasure and tell our kids and grandkids about for years to come.

Oh and I know you thought this would be the last Euro Trip post but I have 2 more to do.  I to show you the ridiculous amount of food photos I took and another on my shopping.  Stay tuned!!!
