Bon Voyage!

I just wanted to quickly pop on and say goodbye because I know I won't get time to do it tomorrow.  At this time tomorrow afternoon I would have been in the air for about 4 hours heading towards London to see my sister.  I am ridiculously excited!  My bags have been packed since the beginning of last week.  Corey has only just packed his about an hour ago.  Unfortunately, my luggage is not as pretty as the ones above but oh well.  So this will be my last post until the start of April when I return.  I just wanted to quickly say thank you to everyone who reads my blog.  I really appreciate all your comments and support and I am very excited to return with some great stories and photos to share with you all.  Until then keep safe and stay crafty!!!

Wedding Sewing

I have so many projects that I want to do for the wedding and I am not sure if I will get them all done but I have managed to cross one off the list.  My garter.....

DIY Garter

It was super easy to make.  I just chose my ribbon in two different sizes and cut a piece of each that was double my thigh circumference.  Then I cut some elastic a couple of inches smaller than my thigh circumference.  Sew the two strips of ribbon together making a casing for the elastic.  Insert the elastic then sew up the ends.  Easy peasy!!! I was trying to find a cute little jewel or something to sew onto to it but I was having no luck then I saw these buttons and thought they are so much more me.  I am really happy with how it turned out and can't wait to wear it in November.

Read More - February

So I didn't do as well in February as I did in January but I did still complete my one book a week quote which I need to do to make 52 books this year.  This is what I read this month....

Dear Fatty was really good but not as funny as I was expecting it to be.  Alice's Adventures in Wonderland was of course amazing.  I read it as a kid so it was a lovely re-read.  Lullabies for Little Criminals was okay but nothing like I was expecting it to be.  Dead in the Family was of course brilliant and the last of the Sookie Series so far.  I have now been able to cross another item off my 101 in 100 list - No. 22 - read all of the Sookie Stackhouse books.  I'm not sure how much reading I will get done while I am away so March might be a quiet month.  I have bought a book especially for the plane trip so I will see how I go!

30 Day Letter Challenge - Day 30

Woo hoo! I made it to the last day of the 30 day letter challenge.  I am very happy that I finished even though I did forget some days and had to do a few double posts but at least they all got done.  Now before you say "you know you missed yesterday". Yes, I know I missed yesterday.  I did actually write the letter but I chose to keep it to myself.  Thank you very much!  Now onto the last letter.....

Day 30 - A Letter to Yourself in The Mirror

Going to the Oscars

Dear Me

Hey there you!  It feels awfully strange to write a letter to yourself.  But you would already know that right! Ha ha anyway I wanted to say you are a good person. No matter what you might think you actually are a good person. You are not who you used to be. You are not a silly teenager anymore. You have grown and moved on. You are not your past!  You are a loving person with a loving family and friends.  You can be anything you set your mind to and you have the confidence to do so.  You have a loving fiance who will soon become your husband and you will soon start your own little family together.  When the time comes you will be a fantastic mother!  Stop stressing about that!  You need to stop trying to plan life out so much.  Life does not follow a schedule.  Sometimes shit happens and things get out of whack but it doesn't mean you failed it just means you have to try again.  If at first you fail try again!  It worked when you dropped out of school. If you can have the confidence and passion to learn to make yourself go back to Tafe and finish year 11 & 12 so you can go to university then you can do anything.  You have the drive to succeed and I have no doubt that you will.  Believe in yourself!!!

Oscars Party

Last night we went to my darling friend Maria's annual Oscars party.  Every year Maria hosts a party and the food is all made based on the movies nominated for Best Picture and the food related puns that Maria comes up with for them.  This year was my first year attending and I was super excited to make a contribution to the food.  My movie was The Kids Are All Right for which we chose the very un-pc pun of The Kids Are All White and I made white chocolate crackles with some white chocolate gingerbread men.

The Kids Are All White

I made the little gingerbread men with a silicon ice cube tray I got for Christmas.  They turned out great! Other food included:

The Pieghter (The Fighter)

The Pieghter

Winters Scone (Winters Bone)

The King's Peach (The Kings Speech)

127 Sours (127 Hours)

The Social Nutwork (The Social Network)

Black Swan (The brand of dip is Black Swan)

(Lil) Boy Story (Toy Story)

There was also this amazing cake which did not relate to any movie but was bloody sensational nonetheless.

And what did I wear to this little shin dig?  Well my newest vintage dress which you have seen glimpses of on here before.  I bought it especially for the Oscars party but couldn't resist wearing it a couple of times since I got it.  But this time I took a full length shot so you can properly see the dress.

Going to the Oscars

I tried to do my hair a little bit 50's rockabilly-ish using this tutorial from Youtube.  It didn't turn out as fabulous as hers did but its better than nothing.  Here is a closeup:

I can't wait till next year to see what Best Picture puns Maria can come up with next!  Oh and if you like movies you should definitely check out Maria's blog.  She reviews all the upcoming movies and does fantastic interviews with various actors & directors.
